Quantity Surveyor/Estimator

An excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor looking to continue their professional development and hone their skills and experience providing commercial and estimating support as a Quantity Surveyor on our Network Rail Civils & Buildings Asset Management frameworks for Network Rail.
Business Unit
A busy and fast-paced project environment involving a range of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, working for a varied range of clients including Local Authorities, Network Rail, Environmental, and private developers. Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as:
1. Roads
2. Bridges
3. Footbridges
4. Tunnels
5. Underbridges
6. Flood alleviation / repairs
7. Embankments
8. Rail platforms etc.
We currently have a number of live infrastructure projects and long-term renewals and maintenance frameworks underway including Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF), and a slab track framework.
The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will form an integral part of the commercial team supporting Commercial Managers and Senior Quantity Surveyors in the daily commercial management of multiple and various contracts within our portfolio of civil engineering and rail projects. The works are fast-paced and high in volume and requires an experienced commercial candidate with the ability to handle works in this type of fast-paced environment. Day-to-day responsibilities would include:
1. Working with the commercial team and supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers in the commercial management of multiple sites on time and to budget.
2. Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time.
3. Resolving pricing issues with clients.
4. Client Liaison.
5. Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day-to-day remits.
6. Subcontractor management.
7. Change management and early warnings.
8. Contract administration (NEC/NR forms of contract).
9. CVRs.
10. Final accounting.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you will have:
1. Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a civil engineering environment.
2. Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management – HNC/HND/Degree.
3. Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract.
4. Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a contracting environment.
5. Experience in Estimating/Pricing works from schedule of rates.
6. Experience in rail would be beneficial but is by no means essential for the role.
