We have a fantastic opportunity for an Apprentice tojoin our Greenkeeping team at The Belfry, England’s leading Hotel and Resort.We have 320 bedrooms, Rosette standard dining, five food and beverage outlets, fantasticleisure facilities including our 20 treatment rooms & pool, and of course,what we are famous for…golf. We have an exciting year ahead at The Belfry,starting with hosting The British Masters in August 2024, and continuing withthe launch of new training and development opportunities and incentives.
The Belfry is synonymous with golf and has hostedthe Ryder Cup four times – more than any other venue in the world. Our world-classgolf courses have produced some of the most dramatic moments in the history ofthe sport. They attract players from the UK and beyond looking to relive theRyder Cup magic, improve their game, and to make use of the unrivalledstate-of-the-art golfing facilities.
Greenkeeping
The Greenkeeping team look after all the 3 GolfCourses and living landscape at the Belfry Hotel and Resort. Due to theworld-class nature of our courses, our golfers have high expectations, and wehave similarly high expectations of ourselves and what we deliver. We areuncompromising on our standards – ensuring our courses and our teams lookfantastic.
Salary
The on-targetearning potential for this role is £ per hour compromising of a basehourly rate of £11 per hour plus a qualified estimate of £ gratuities perhour
About the apprenticeship
This will be a 2-year Apprenticeshipwithin Greenkeeping, covering all aspects of the role of a Greenkeeper andcompleting an NVQ 2 with our partnership College provider, who specialise ineducation and training for land-based and sports industries.
You will also be required to:
· Tofully commit to the Greenkeeping apprenticeship and embrace all aspects oftraining and learning.
· Toundertake general course maintenance on a daily basis under the direction ofDeputy Head Greenkeeper to ensure that the golf course are maintained to theBelfry Brand Standards.
· Toundertake bunker maintenance daily including; raking, edging, re-sanding anddebris clearance to the required standards.
· Toundertake mowing duties on a daily /weekly basis as required and operate therelevant machinery in line with health and safety regulations and operationalstandards.
· Toundertake general mowing duties on a daily basis once competent including;greens, tees, fairways, rough, semi-rough areas to the required standards.
· Tocarry out other duties that may be required from time to time. Construction and course improvements.
· Carryout their duties with an awareness that you are guest-facing, and representingThe Belfry, following all standards to a high degree.
· Toadhere to all Health & Safety aspects concerning the department.
About you:
Our Greenkeeping team is a group offriendly and hardworking individuals with a passion for what they do and an abilityto work individually and as a team. We are looking for someone who will fit inwith the culture. No formal training or experience is required for this rolealthough the successful candidates will have:
· Youmust not have completed a similar qualification at a level 2 or above
· Adesire to progress within Greenkeeping
· Aknowledge of golf is not required, However, an Interest in outdoor workingwould be an advantage
· Goodteamwork ethic.
