This is an advanced practitioner post available to all senior clinicians preferably with a background in respiratory or thoracic medicine. It is for a minimum of 1 year (extendable to 2 years by mutual agreement).
This post will provide leadership to and coordinate the three Scan Review Meetings currently held at Harefield Hospital, St Georges Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare Trust. It aims to give the successful applicant an extraordinary opportunity to contribute to and lead a different kind of work identifying asymptomatic people, providing early diagnosis of both lung cancer and other lung diseases, alongside planning the appropriate follow up.

Main duties of the job

The programme requires a leader who is able to collaborate with multiple partners throughout the wider programme. The post holder will also have a key role to play in developing the implementation of the programme throughout West London, with responsibilities for protocol development and execution, continual audit and data analysis.
About us
West London Targeted Lung Health Check started to recruit patients from October 2023. Patients registered at GP practices between the ages of 55 to 74 with a smoking history have been invited to attend for the lung health check. This is a rolling programme where the first phase comprised of three London boroughs, this has since increased to include additional London boroughs, therefore covering a larger population.
Lung cancer screening with CT has been implemented via numerous pilot projects across the UK. RM Partners, in collaboration with the Royal Brompton Hospital successfully implemented a pilot lung cancer CT screening project in West London in 2018-19 and continued until April 2024.
This post has been created to continue and expand this collaboration through the West London screening programme and has seen the introduction of three scan review meetings at three separate sites - Harefield Hospital, St Georges Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare Trust. There will be cross-site working with all three sites in order to provide the leadership and governance needed for the programme to successfully develop further.

The successful applicant will be expected to co-ordinate and remotely attend the Scan Review Meetings every week, ensuring standardised practice and to support the local Responsible Assessor at each site. They will play an integral part of the governance structure within the programme, with specific responsibility for the safety and operational delivery ensuring appropriate action is taken when clinical findings are identified.
There will be a requirement for the post holder to build upon and maintain effective communication with both internal and external stakeholders, working with patients, clinicians and other partners to continue to successfully implement the Targeted Lung Health Checks across West London.
They will be expected to attend Programme performance meetings to facilitate the delivery of the strategic objectives and support pathway development and design. There will also be a need to work with Inhealth colleagues to compile, analyse and interpret performance data for the West London screening programme.
