Job Title: Finance Apprentice

The role
We are looking to recruit a Finance Apprentice who will work closely with the rest of the finance team to support the Foundation across all of its entities. You will report to the Financial Controller and be responsible for day-to-day purchasing and transactional accountancy support for the Foundation. The role will suit someone who has had a first experience of bookkeeping and is planning to start or is currently studying for their accountancy qualification. You will need to be conscientious and efficient, and take pride in the accuracy of your work. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities. You should be a natural team player with strong communication skills who can deliver in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
* Review and approve purchase orders and complete centralised purchasing of goods and services for all entities within the Foundation’s group.
* Process all supplier invoices in Xero, matching them against purchase orders.
* Process all credit card purchase transactions in Xero, match them against purchase orders, and reconcile all company credit cards.
* Support colleagues with travel bookings and process related invoices in Xero.
* Complete bank reconciliations of all expenditure.
* Manage the finance inboxes and internal ticketing platform.
* Support the finance team with processing and filing financial paperwork.
* Provide additional support where required while other members of the finance team are on holiday.
Experience and personal attributes
* A passion for numbers, reflected in GCSE’s / A Levels.
* Literate in MS Office and Google Docs, and competent in all aspects of a digital working environment.
* Well-organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
* Able to work with precision and excellent attention to detail.
* Customer-focused with good communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Experienced in working in a fast-paced environment, willing to lend support across all departments.
* Desirable: already completed level 2 AAT or started studying for an accountancy qualification.
Training and qualifications
* The formal accountancy training will be provided by an accredited apprenticeship provider. Successful candidates will work towards their level 2 and level 3 AAT, which will take 13 months to complete each level.
* The training will cover aspects of finance and accounting, including bookkeeping and the business environment for level 2, and business accounting, tax for business, and management accounting for level 3.
