About the job Job summary As a Vehicle Inspector you will be the lifting Equipment Examiner (LEE) and Lifting Equipment Record Keeper (LERK) for Commando Helicopter Force Workshops. The Commando Helicopter Force (CHF) is a highly mobile and rapidly deployable Royal Navy unit. It forms part of the Armys Joint Aviation Command (JAC) We deliver Battlefield Helicopters and Aviation Combat Service Support that are operationally capable under all environmental conditions, to meet designated military tasks, primarily in support of the UK Commando Forces. CHF is based at RNAS Yeovilton which is an operational Royal Naval Air Station located in Somerset. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description Responsibilities: To carry out HGV Mandatory Equipment Examinations on various equipment requiring in date Lifting equipment Examiner currency must be maintained with routine refresher training. All examiners must be appointed in writing by an EngO (Land ES). To carry out Level 2 and when applicable levels 3 and 4 maintenance on HGVs and their associated equipment in accordance with AESP 522s and 601s for supported vehicle platforms. Attendance of specific equipment course may be required to be Suitably Qualified Experienced Person (SQEP) for unsupported equipment the highest engineering practices are to be adhered to. To complete authorised Modifications AESP 811s Urgent Technical Instructions (UTIs) and Routine Tech-nical Instructions (RTIs) within the mandated timelines. Lifting Equipment Examiner IAW Management of Lifting and recovery Equipment (MLRE) for Jacks, Axle stands, ancillaries, slings, Terex Crane and working at height fall arrest harnesses required for workshop use. Maintain Lifting Equipment records via JAMES System All above tasks are to be carried out under the guidelines laid down in Land Equipment Engineering Standards (LEES), Land Equipment User Maintenance Standards (LEUMS), Equipment Standards Regulatory Standards (ESRS), Management of Lifting and Recovery Equipment (MLRE) Motor Transport Technical Instructions Royal Navy (MTTIs), Army Equipment Support Publications (AESP) and manufactures schedules. Including road testing of HGV vehicles. Secondary responsibilities: Reporting equipment defects or deficiencies to the C/Sgt Wksps or Support Manager The maintenance and repair of tools and equipment as issued and the prompt reporting of any losses, damage or deficiencies to the C/Sgt Wksps or Support Manager Reporting workshop equipment that requires maintenance or repair or building infrastructure to the Support Manager. Ensuring compliance of the HSAW and COSHH regulations, JSP 375 as they affect CSS Workshops Remain flexible and be prepared to react to emerging work within skillset that may impact on the Unit operational capability Complete all mandatory training courses relevant to the role. Deploy on detached duties including overnight/s if required (as directed/required) for essential maintenance and inspection tasks as required (ie: Marchwood) Keep the Line Manager updated on work progress and reporting any problems/concerns. Follow all procedures, ensuring targets and objectives and deadlines are met, dealing with queries raised by other team members and check that all necessary materials, tools and equipment are available for the planned work.
