One of the UK's leading Facilities Management (FM) providers is looking to recruit a Senior Leader within their Sustainability Division, focusing on Social & Environmental impact.
The employer offers traditional Facilities services from engineering maintenance to catering across an envious and growing client base within both public and private sectors.
Sustainability is a growing service line to optimise energy and environmental practices across a client's portfolio, delivered by a variety of SMEs.
With a growing Sustainability offering, the employer is increasingly keen for Social and Environmental values to be embedded across their organisation, including internal and client-facing Key Account teams.
Working with a small team of Social Value experts and other Sustainability-related stakeholders, you will build, lead, and develop the Social & Environmental Impact function through upskilling, training, and knowledge transfer to the direct teams and wider stakeholders.
You will have the opportunity to implement and maintain social and environmental sustainability as a core aspect of the operational business, building on the work already in place with your own unique chance.
This is a fantastic role for a leader in the Sustainability space to accelerate the social value and environmental strategies across all segments of a market leader in the built environment space.
Actions will include:
1. Build, lead and develop the Social & Environmental Impact function for company UK&I through upskilling, training and knowledge transfer to the direct teams and wider stakeholders.
2. Delivery of a programme to embed social and environmental sustainability within our operational business units/key accounts.
3. Develop, deliver and ensure compliance against UK, Ireland, EU legislative reporting and disclosure; plus voluntary or sector requirements e.g., public healthcare Sustainability Framework.
4. Identify and manage sustainability-related risks and opportunities, ensuring they are integrated into the company’s overall risk management framework.
5. Ensure the evidenced delivery of Sustainability initiatives, projects and programmes are achieved across all areas of the business with an initial focus on carbon reduction and social value strategy.
6. Act as the SME corporate sustainability/ESG across our internal functions e.g., finance, legal, etc., to improve our business capability and the perception of the company's sustainability offer in the industry.
7. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and community partners, to promote and support sustainability efforts.
8. Identify strong incentives for sustainability partnerships, such as maintaining a license to operate or ensuring the endurance of profitable resources both within accounts and collaboration with commercial.
9. Ensure service operational sustainability strategies are in place and delivery is managed against agreed decarbonisation, social value and other sustainability metrics.
We need from you:
1. Extensive background in Sustainability: Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies, often with a background in environmental science, corporate social responsibility, social value or a related field.
2. Leadership and management: Experience in leading teams and managing projects across a matrix structure, with a track record of driving change and achieving sustainability goals.
3. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the specific sustainability challenges and opportunities, including regulatory compliance across environmental and social legislation impacting large corporate businesses.
4. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively articulate sustainability goals and engage stakeholders at all levels (from C-suite to placemaker/shop floor).
