Controls Engineer Up to £48,000 Leeds My client is a leading design and manufacturer of bespoke machinery being sold all across the world to household brands. The company has been established over 60 years and has grown sustainably even throughout Covid. Due to growth and an order book full for the next 14 months, they are looking to add a Control Systems Engineer to the team. The role of Controls Engineer:- Work from electrical design blueprints to indicate the locations of circuits, outlets, load centres, panel boards, and other equipment in a machine. Work with blueprints to install, connect, test, and maintain electrical systems and electronic controls for production machines. Design and install computer software for production equipment. PLC & Safety PLC programming. SCADA industrial controls system configuration. HMI (Human Machine Interface) programming / design (standard and Visual Studio). Instrumentation / DCS / RTU / Drive - Servo/ OPC / configuration – programming. Check accuracy and quality of electrical assemblies, to include both internal pre-delivery electrical checking and testing and offsite on customers premises where required. Act as a contact point for clients on electrical and process matters for equipment for sale or sold, including trouble shooting. Assist in delivering the company FAT / SAT programme, setting up and executing commissioning trials on sales equipment and involving others as appropriate. Using learning from each FAT / SAT, make future improvements to the programme. Training of customer technical teams both at company site and on customer premises and assisting sales personnel where required. The ideal Controls Engineer will have:- A strong background in electrical engineering – with a minimum of HNC / HND or equivalent. Good planning and problem solving skills and the judgement necessary to choose the best solution to a problem. Sound time and resource management skills Good organisational skills and attention to detail. Experience of installing equipment. Experience in machinery maintenance in a production environment and remote PLC / motor controls fault-finding experience. 3-5 years employment experience in an industrial environment. Desirable Basic knowledge of process instrumentation and Siemens control systems.
