Job Description
At John Crane, sustainability and responsible sourcing are core to our mission. We are looking for a Responsible Procurement Lead to develop, implement, and manage responsible procurement policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop & Oversee Procurement Strategies: Implement procurement policies that integrate sustainability and ethical considerations, ensuring alignment with John Crane’s overall ESG objectives.
* ESG & Compliance Reporting: Gather and report data to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulations, directives, and internal policies, such as CBAM, EU Deforestation, Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence, EU Net Zero, Eco Design for Sustainable Products, CSRD, and more.
* Supplier Engagement & Communication: Collaborate with Category Managers to engage with suppliers on key ESG topics, ensuring adherence to EcoVadis assessments, SBTi targets, carbon reduction initiatives, and human rights standards, such as modern-day slavery.
* Supplier Performance Management: Lead quarterly business reviews (QBRs) to track and evaluate supplier progress against agreed ESG goals and objectives.
* Project Management & Support: Oversee Global Procurement’s activities to support ESG initiatives, including supplier engagement on SBTi and the roll-out of additional phases of the EcoVadis tool.
* Champion ESG & Sustainability Initiatives: Drive internal initiatives to promote carbon reduction, sustainability, and ESG within John Crane’s procurement functions, supporting the successful conclusion of related projects.
* Data Coordination & Reporting: Lead the collection of data to support compliance reporting, collaborating with both internal and external teams to ensure accurate and timely inputs.
* Process Improvement: Update procurement processes, procedures, and KPIs to reflect sustainability and carbon reduction efforts, ensuring that these actions are incorporated into global procurement practices.
* Stay Informed on ESG Trends: Continuously monitor new procurement trends related to ESG and sustainable procurement, assessing their potential applicability to John Crane’s operations.
* Representation at Sustainability & Ethics Sessions: Represent John Crane Procurement at internal sustainability and ethics sessions, including those hosted by Smiths Group, to share insights and best practices.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in responsible procurement, ESG, and sustainability.
* Strong project management skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
* Expertise in ESG reporting and regulatory compliance.
* The ability to build enduring relationships with supplier and partners
* Ability to develop and champion sustainability initiatives across a global organisation.
* Excellent communication skills to engage with both suppliers and internal teams.
