Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families?
Cumberland Council Children and Family Wellbeing are offering a fantastic opportunity for highly skilled graduates to qualify as social workers in just 14 months through the Step Up to Social Work programme.
About the Programme
Funded by the Department for Education (DfE), Step Up to Social Work is an intensive, employer-led training programme designed to support talented graduates into the field of social work. Applications are expected to open in February 2025, with the programme commencing in January 2026.
What the Programme Offers
* Fully Funded Training: Receive a tax-free bursary of £21,994.80 while training, with no tuition fees to pay.
* Fast-Track Qualification: Complete the programme in 14 months and become eligible to register with Social Work England.
* Real-World Experience: Gain 170 days of practical placement with Cumberland Council, building the skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in social work.
* Pathway to Employment: Upon completion, graduates will be supported in applying for social work positions within Cumberland Council.

Who Can Apply? Social work is a challenging but rewarding profession, requiring resilience, empathy, and strong decision-making skills. Ideal candidates will:
* Have a passion for working with children and families facing difficult circumstances.
* Possess strong communication, observational, and analytical skills.
* Demonstrate emotional resilience and maturity in high-pressure situations.
Entry Requirements:
* A minimum 2:2 undergraduate degree (Level 6) in any subject other than social work (conditional offers can be made to those expecting to graduate in summer 2025, subject to final grades).
* GCSE English Language at Grade C (or new Grade 4) or above, or an approved equivalent qualification.
* Significant experience (either professional or substantial voluntary work) with vulnerable children, young people, families, carers, or adults.
