Alecto Recruitment are currently representing an industry leading Gas Detection company based in Woking, who are now looking to appoint a Junior Workshop Engineer due to ongoing growth.
With an outstanding reputation for quality and engineering excellence, the company provides a one stop shop for the design, manufacture, test, supply, install, commission and service of fixed continuous gas detection equipment and environmental monitoring systems.
The Role:
As Junior Workshop Engineer, you will assist the Workshop Manager and the wider engineering team with electronic and electrical build, repair, and calibration of fixed gas detection systems in the workshop. This will involve building new systems prior to being delivered to site installed by the field engineers, and repairing and calibrating equipment returned to the workshop by clients or the engineering team.
Duties will include:
1. Electrical & Electronic component assembly including wiring, drilling, tapping, sawing.
2. Testing electronic/electrical products under supervision.
3. E-mail management (Microsoft Outlook).
4. Goods in and Goods out packing as well as collection and delivery of goods.
5. Some site work involving assisting other team members with servicing gas detection systems.
6. Some administration duties such as time sheet completion.
The Candidate:
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a good work ethic and a willingness to learn either a new skill or expand their existing skills. Full training will be provided in-house on component assembly and product testing, but we are ideally looking for someone with experience in electronics and/or electrical systems, either from college or having worked in similar roles.
This role is likely to suit someone looking to start a career but who hasn't necessarily found a job that provides them with a skill and potential career path. Whilst the job advertised is workshop-based, there is potential as the company expands for the role to grow and may include installation and commissioning and/or servicing of the system originally constructed in the workshop, enabling the applicant to see the project through from start to finish.
Preferable qualifications:
1. Electronic or Electrical qualifications.
2. Proven experience working within a workshop, or Service Engineer capacity.
3. Strong communication skills.
4. Full UK Driving Licence.
This is an excellent opportunity to work for a small to medium-sized company, who reward their staff both verbally and financially whilst offering strong long-term career prospects in a growing and niche industry.
