Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of the Mechanical Department to lead and inspire a team of talented engineers and technicians. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems for our cutting-edge satellite payloads. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills to drive innovation and ensure the successful execution of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and manage the mechanical engineering team, providing mentorship, guidance, and performance evaluations.
2. Oversee the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical components and systems for satellite payloads.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, software, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
4. Develop and implement mechanical engineering processes, standards, and best practices.
5. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project delivery.
6. Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for mechanical design challenges.
7. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements relevant to satellite payload development.
8. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration within the mechanical department.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience in a senior mechanical engineering role, preferably within the aerospace or satellite industry.
3. Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully leading engineering teams.
4. In-depth knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
5. Experience with CAD software and simulation tools.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
8. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for satellite payloads.
