Job Description
Are you passionate about conservation work and can demonstrate experience of engaging with a wide range of audiences to support complex projects? Join as a Principal Built Heritage Consultant in our talented Heritage team in our growing Bristol, Basingstoke, Croydon, Leeds, Nottingham or Newcastle offices, while taking advantage of our flexible hybrid working model.
Here’s what you’ll do:
1. Provide Expertise:
o Provide constructive design and mitigation advice on built heritage aspects of major infrastructure schemes.
o Produce or lead the production of heritage statements, Environmental Impact Assessment chapters, listed building consent applications and other heritage deliverables.
o Present these to statutory consultees.
2. Ensure Quality:
o Deliver desk-based assessments and Environmental Statements.
o Undertake research and site visits to inform heritage assessments.
o Conduct statutory consultations and liaise with stakeholders.
o Perform on-site monitoring visits and building recording.
3. Collaborate:
o Work closely with clients and AECOM counterparts to secure stakeholder buy-in.
o Provide optioneering and design advice to client teams.
o Prepare impact assessments with the wider EIA team.
Qualifications
Here’s what we’re looking for:
1. A relevant first degree and/or post-graduate qualification in historic buildings or a related subject.
2. Appropriate level of membership of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists or the Institute of Historic Building Conservation.
3. Detailed knowledge of UK heritage legislation and policy.
4. Experience in heritage consultancy, including the production of heritage statements and EIA/DCO experience.
5. Client-focused team player with a positive attitude.
6. Ability to manage own time and work to tight deadlines.
