At Severn Trent, we're embarking on an exciting £415m project to replace 870 miles of old water pipes across the Midlands - and we want you to be part of it.
This is the biggest investment in water infrastructure in the region in a decade and it is set to improve water quality, reduce leaks, and make water supply more reliable for millions of people. The new pipes installed will last up to 100 years.
To bring this vision to life, we are creating new jobs across the region, with roles based in Birmingham, Nottingham, or anywhere in between. We have opportunities for you to help shape the future of water in the Midlands.
We are looking for a Network Logistics Technician to support the Network Construction Team in successfully completing large-scale mains renewal scheme activities within the regional area.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
As our new Network Logistics Technician, you’ll be responsible for the timely, safe, and compliant delivery of construction plant, equipment, and materials onsite as required by the Network Construction team.
You’ll support the delivery of materials such as pipes and fittings, transported in lighter goods vehicles (not HGVs). You’ll also manage stock effectively, maintaining appropriate levels, and ensure equipment and kit are kept safe and in good condition.
This role requires a 42-hour work week, Monday to Friday, starting at 7:30 AM and ending at 4:30 PM, with a half-hour early finish at 4:00 PM on Fridays.
Key Accountabilities:
* Ordering and delivering plant, specialist tools, and equipment as required, including chlorination and delivery of coiled pipe.
* Carrying out daily and ad-hoc tasks to ensure smooth warehouse operations, including operating heavy plant lifting equipment, manual lifting, housekeeping, data entry for stock control, and vehicle inspections.
* Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regularly, supporting construction teams with service laying, and ensuring site safety for operatives, customers, the public, and the environment.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics, working on mains renewal schemes, and/or hold an NCO qualification, preferably from a utilities background.
You should possess excellent communication, customer service, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make prompt, clear decisions, work under pressure, and multitask effectively.
Onsite construction experience, knowledge of transportation and delivery of materials, and accountability for safety are essential. A full UK driving license is required, as travel is involved.
We value the right character, positivity, and a caring attitude. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, believing diverse teams help us serve our communities better. If you’re eager to be part of something bigger and make a difference, we want to hear from you.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
Working at Severn Trent is more than just a job; it’s a career. We offer a range of benefits that reward your hard work, along with award-winning training to help you grow. We also support your role in caring for the environment and communities.
Some of our key perks include:
* 25 days holiday + bank holidays (with options to buy/sell up to 5 days)
* Annual bonus scheme (up to £1,500 based on performance)
* Leading pension scheme with doubled contributions (up to 15% when you contribute 7.5%)
* Sharesave scheme at a discounted rate
* Dedicated training and development through our ‘Academy’
* Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
* Family-friendly policies
* Two volunteering days per year
* Opportunity to earn up to an additional £10,000 annually through the Mains Renewal incentive scheme
