Using patented techniques developed within the Aerospace sector, MetLase technologies are now being applied across multiple manufacturing industries such as automotive, construction, defence, energy and renewables. We are now recruiting for a Design Engineer - Mechanical Engineering to be r esponsible for the design and development of new engineering solutions and products. You will work with customers and their engineering departments, ensuring solutions meet specification, functional, and business performance requirements. You will be supporting the Project Engineers to deliver engineering programmes, solving complex problems for customers and preparing designs and calculations to support the development of a wide range of leading-edge fixtures and products. Key roles and responsibilities of the role include: The design and development of new engineering solutions and products. Involvement in all aspects of the solution delivery process. This includes specification clarification and quoting, concepting, detailed design definition and manufacture, testing, installation, commissioning and delivery. Producing design definition models and drawings, calculations, specifications, BoMs, validation and verification plans, technical reports and operation instructions. Also the compilation and maintenance of the relevant ‘project folder’ and process documentation. Assessment of technical time and material requirements for the preparation of customer quotations Supporting other engineers within the team. Ensuring intellectual property and commercial issues associated with product development and introduction are effectively managed with suppliers and customers. Providing support for sales related activities where required Ensuring adherence to the business processes Developing own knowledge and ability. Continuous improvement activities to support business growth Keeping senior management up-to-date on project status and progress. Applicants will hold a relevant engineering related degree or equivalent Mechanical Engineering experience, and will ideally have experience in Project Management. You will have proven experience in the use of CAD systems and have demonstrable practical manufacturing or assembly experience. You must also be able to demonstrate strong problem solving capability and be able to work on your own initiative as well as in a team environment.
