Applications are welcome for the above Permanent, full time/part time (40 hours per week) post based in the Western General Hospital.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic geriatrician to join our vibrant and dedicated team based at the Western General Hospital.
The post-holder will support in-patient care of frail older people in the Medicine for the Elderly wards, have sessions in the assessment and management of older people in the acute admission areas and contribute to the consultant on call rota for Medicine for the Elderly at the Western General Hospital.
The post-holder will provide a significant contribution to Medical Education and ensure the undergraduates on clinical placement within Medicine of the Elderly receive a high-quality teaching and training experience.
We have a strong reputation for excellence in teaching and training, quality improvement, and a growing clinical research portfolio. The successful candidate will contribute to service planning; delivery of undergraduate teaching; supervision of doctors in training; clinical governance and quality improvement. There will be additional opportunities for the successful candidate to have dedicated time to promote the development of different teaching methods, including simulation, teaching-focused ward rounds, exemplar clinics, and an overall strong focus on optimizing the student experience.
The post is for a Consultant in Medicine for the Elderly and will be for up to 10 PAs. Out of hours and on call duties will be part of the consultant on call rota for Medicine for the Elderly at the Western General Hospital.
