Our Seasonal Assistant Rangers' tasks and roles are essentially outdoors and focus on visitor safety, patrolling and operational delivery. The post-holders will have a strong focus on visitor engagement, nature conservation and landscape protection and will be expected to set exemplary standards. In addition to our busy public engagement programme, there will be opportunities to assist in the development and delivery of learning, community and volunteer engagement.
Holyrood Park offers excellent scope for our Ranger Service staff to enjoy the outdoors. This unique and popular site has a fascinating story and our team offers many compelling interpretations of our sites for our audiences' enjoyment, understanding and appreciation. You will demonstrate the ability to gain knowledge of our sites to exceed visitor expectation and to provide guidance on site access for our different user groups. The Ranger team actively inspires responsible public behaviour to help us protect and promote our sites for current and future users.
Your seasonal role will be carried out between Holyrood Park, Edinburgh and Linlithgow Peel, West Lothian, and other Historic Environment Scotland sites. The role is full-time - 35 hours per week on a rota of 5 out of 7 days as part of a shift pattern. These posts will focus on providing evening (to 8pm) and weekend cover. Day shifts (8am - 4pm) will also be included. Occasional out of hours work may be required. This is an exciting opportunity to enjoy an active and busy outdoor role in the Natural and Cultural Heritage sector. A full, manual, UK driving licence is required.
