Responsibilities
The HR Manager will develop, implement, and manage company policies and procedures. Manage all functional areas within responsibility to include employee relations, salary administration, payroll, benefits, training, and staffing. Keep plant management team aware of changes in employment law as well as ensure legal compliance. Make recommendations that encompass trends and new developments within the human resources function. Works independently and makes decisions that are in the best interest of the organization. The HR Manager will report directly to the HR regional director with a strong dotted-line reporting relationship to the Plant Manager.
1. Ensure Berry Global employee relations principles are properly communicated and understood.
2. Interpret and apply Human Resources policies; align business goals with HR policies.
3. Manage recruitment, compensation, diversity, performance management, employee training, and development.
4. Develop, coordinate, and conduct HR training programs.
5. Administer benefits open enrollment and connect employees to the benefits department. Communicate relevant benefits to employees.
6. Assist Plant Manager and HR (regional) Director as necessary and requested.
7. Coordinate performance and salary review process.
8. Manage payroll and HR automated systems.
9. Counsel employees, supervisors, and managers on matters of company policy and disciplinary measures.
10. Represent company in unemployment insurance claims.
11. Manage Human Resources data retention process.
12. Provide support for HR activities such as continuous improvement initiatives, affirmative action plan, integration, and acquisitions, and right-sizing.
13. Act as coach/counsel at all levels in the organization.
14. Participate and lead employee improvement teams to promote positive employee relations; promote and encourage employee participation.
15. Work with production and other department heads to ensure overall success at the plant.
16. All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
2. Demonstrates group presentation skills to large audiences.
3. 3+ years of progressive HR experience in a manufacturing setting.
4. Bachelor’s Degree in related field; Master’s preferred.
5. PHR or SPHR certification a plus.
6. Strong analytical abilities.
7. Able to work independently as well as in group settings.
8. Prior supervisory experience preferred.
9. Strategic thinker.
10. Able to maintain confidentiality.
