Job responsibilities The post holder will be responsible for: Conducting outpatient clinics (seeing a mixture of new and follow-up patients) under supervision of the consultant and independently. Assisting in the operating theatres and conducting parallel lists with the consultant when appropriate. The timetable will include the equivalent of 3-4 clinics and 3-4 operating lists per week. There will be opportunities for supervised and independent operating commensurate with skills. Running the upper limb trauma service, ensuring patients are appropriately prioritised for surgery in close co-operation with the Trauma co-ordinators and developing referral pathways for upper limb trauma. Assessment, care and treatment of patients presenting and referred to the subspecialty. Supervising the foundation doctors, core trainees (or junior fellows) and SpRs in the day-to-day management of Upper Limb Elective and emergency orthopaedic inpatients. The postholder will be on-call 1:12 weekend rota. The post-holder will assist in a weekly fracture clinic.
