This is an exciting opportunity to support and enhance science education in a dynamic environment.
The Role:
We are looking for a motivated Science Technician to support science lessons by preparing materials, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards at KS3 and KS4 levels. In this Temp to Perm role, you will be responsible for assisting in practical sessions, managing resources, and providing technical support to staff and students.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support with the planning and preparation of Science lessons by organizing and setting up laboratory equipment and materials.
2. Regularly maintain, calibrate, and inspect scientific instruments to ensure they are in good working order.
3. Manage the inventory of chemicals and laboratory supplies, ensuring proper storage and ordering new stock as needed.
4. Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, inventory, and health and safety inspections.
5. Support students in their practical experiments, offering guidance and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following minimum criteria:
1. Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a secondary school or similar environment working as a Science Technician.
2. Training: Experience handling laboratory equipment and knowledge of scientific principles.
Skills:
1. Proficiency in using and maintaining a range of scientific instruments and laboratory apparatus.
2. Knowledge of chemistry, biology, and physics lab procedures and safety regulations.
Location:
This role is based in Northampton, within a well-established secondary school. The school is easily accessible by public transport and offers a supportive working environment.
