Options for Care is looking torecruit an exceptional Mental Health Nurse who ispassionateabout working with individuals with severe and enduring mental healthdiagnoses.
We are specifically seeking highlymotivated nurses who have an interest inworking with individuals with severe and enduring mental illnesses as part of awider multi-disciplinary team, to help promote their recovery, with a focus onsupporting individuals to achieve their recovery goals. We are keen to meetnurses with a recovery focused ethos, who are willing to commit to building andsustaining good therapeutic relationships and positive engagement withpatients.
Our two established hospitals,Montague Court and Dartmouth House, have successfully supported the needs ofindividuals with mental health diagnoses. We also have Orchard House, ourrecovery home, which provides a safe and supportive environment for individualson their journey to mental health recovery. Furthermore, we eagerly anticipatethe opening of Stanford Court, which is soon to be open this autumn.
The successful candidatewill work at Stanford Court .This is a 23-bed male mental health inpatient unitbased in Highgate, Birmingham. It consists of a 19-bed enhanced care serviceand four self-contained recovery flats to enable assessment of daily livingskills in preparation for discharge.
Main duties of the job
Whilst under the supervision of deputy managers and theregistered manager, the post holder will faciliate evidence-based nursing care,support, and advice to service users and their carers with mental health needsin a multidisciplinary setting while understanding and implementing the organisation'smission, vision, and values.
The post holder will be responsible for identifying andcontributing to the training needs of others and in the promotion of issues ofequality, diversity and rights in accordance with good practice legislation.The post holder will ensure effective communication pathways exist, and thatthey act within the sphere or responsibility, managing themselves, the team andthe clinical area in the absence of the person in charge.

In the capacity of a Mental HealthNurse, your primary responsibility will be to provide person-centred care toindividuals seeking support on their journey towards community integration. Ourcare pathway is consistently evolving, and as such, we utilise the mosteffective outcome measures and assessment tools available. Your role willinvolve providing quality, evidence-based nursing advice, support, and care toindividuals with complex, severe, and enduring mental health needs, as well astheir caregivers, in a multidisciplinary setting.
We provide additional training toour nurses to complete early warning signs and relapse prevention work withpatients, as well as training in the assessment suite, which is used as part ofthe CPA reviews. The service also provides positive behaviour support trainingto help support those individuals who may present with behaviour thatchallenges their pathway to recovery
To be successful in this role, youwill need to establish therapeutic relationships with service users andimplement evidence-based therapeutic interventions within appropriateboundaries, as outlined by the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code. You will beresponsible for overseeing the assessment, planning, implementation, andevaluation of nursing care within agreed parameters and have a comprehensiveunderstanding of local and national policies and legislation that governservice provision.

2. To apply for the position of Mental Health Nurse, you must be a Registered Nurse, registered with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council or in the process of achieving your registration.
3. You should possess a working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and the changes brought about by the Mental Health Act 2007 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Additionally, you should have a clear understanding of your responsibilities under the Care Programme Approach, Clinical Governance, and Child Protection Legislation.
4. It is also essential that you demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and strive to remain up-to-date with the latest developments and best practices in the field of mental health nursing.
