Who are we looking for and what will you be doing?
Your role will be to develop, support and continuously improve secure, performant and reusable platform-layer components, that our Product team developers can efficiently self-serve, using automated, industry-standard and best practice cloud-based tools and techniques, within a Microsoft environment.
Under the guidance of the Head of Platforms you will:
* Develop, support and continuously improve reusable platform-layer components that support and enable developers throughout the firm’s product teams.
* Help develop and maintain a robust and user-friendly Internal Developer Platform (IDP) that streamlines software development and deployment processes.
* Implement and support automated CI/CD pipelines to enable developers to test and promote code into production with appropriate controls and maximum velocity.
* Reduce or eliminate manual or repetitive tasks, improving end-to-end platform health and performance and general developer productivity.
* Provide technical support and guidance to the development teams, facilitating knowledge sharing and collaboration.
* Implement policies to manage platform components securely, in conjunction with the infrastructure team.
Maintain and develop awareness of:
* Product team strategies and roadmaps, to anticipate and support their needs.
* LCP’s overall solutions architecture, ensuring that Platform components continue to promote automation, reuse, and consistency across the technology estate.
* Modern DevOps practices, tools, techniques and industry practices.
Coordinate with third party vendors:
* Where required to ensure the ongoing health and availability of platform components or outsourced functions.
* As needed in respect of periodic penetration testing and vulnerability assessments, facilitating the resolution of findings as appropriate.
Own incidents and problems impacting platform components and code:
* Until a new owner is required, or the issue has been mitigated or resolved.
* Conducting root cause analysis to identify and resolve underlying issues.
* Collaborating as needed, within and beyond the team.
What skills, qualities and experience are we looking for?
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly present and discuss issues.
* Strong experience working in Microsoft Azure within a DevOps organisation.
* Proficiency in a scripting language such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation tasks.
* Good knowledge of Azure DevOps to build and improve CI/CD pipelines for product teams.
* Experience writing Infrastructure as Code in Terraform (or equivalent).
* Experience of writing YAML pipelines is an advantage.
* Proven experience with web and data workloads ideally from a development background.
* Solid understanding of security including app authentication using Azure AD / B2C.
* Good all round software development and release engineering skills.
* Understanding of incident management – alerting, investigation and assisting resolution.
* Experience with version control systems, particularly Git.
* Proficient in planning and organization, capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining quality and business priorities.
