Job Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join this team at a great SEN School in Haywards Heath to provide essential support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Key Responsibilities: Support students with a range of SEND, including ASD, ADHD, SLD, PMLD, and communication difficulties. Assist the SEN Teacher in delivering tailored lessons and adapting resources to meet individual needs. Work one-on-one or in small groups, providing targeted support to enhance learning and engagement. Help develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with the SENCO and wider support team. Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages student independence and confidence. Use effective differentiation and behavior management strategies to support students' emotional and social development. Support students with personal care and mobility needs (if required). Requirements: Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs in a school or specialist setting. Understanding of SEND strategies, including differentiation, behavior management, and alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton). A patient, caring, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs. Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals. Desirable: Additional training or qualifications in SEND, Autism, Speech and Language, or Mental Health. Experience working with EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans). Training in de-escalation techniques (e.g., Team Teach, MAPA).
