Job summary To undertake all routine waste collections and support all waste and recycling activities as instructed. Daily collection of different waste streams from a variety of wards and departments. Training of new starters and inexperienced staff. To assist the Waste Management Team in the development of the service. Due to the service being at times unpredictable, you will be expected to provide a flexible and reactive service. Main duties of the job To undertake all routine waste collections and support all waste and recycling activities as instructed. Daily collection of different waste streams from a variety of wards and departments. To observe all Infection Control procedures are adhered to. To collect all clinical and domestic waste across the Trust site. To collect hazardous waste including waste materials from Pathology. To collect and segregate other waste streams as required. To work in all weather conditions including extreme weather. The carrying of radios as an important means of communication and work allocation. Adhering to the RCHT protocol regarding the use of radio equipment in sensitive areas. The position will involve long periods of walking and moving bulky items from various parts of the hospital requiring physical effort for periods during the working day.
