Job Description:
As a Communication Engineer at [Company Name], you will play a key role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining communication systems that ensure seamless connectivity for both clients and internal systems. You will work closely with various teams to optimise networks, troubleshoot issues, and introduce advanced communication technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
* System Design & Development: Design, develop, and implement communication systems, networks, and protocols tailored to clients’ needs and industry requirements.
* Network Optimisation: Analyses, monitor, and optimize existing communication networks, ensuring high performance, scalability, and security across all platforms.
* Installation & Integration: Manage the installation and integration of communication hardware and software solutions, such as routers, switches, and wireless systems.
* Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct comprehensive testing of communication systems and provide timely resolutions to network issues to maintain optimal system functionality.
* Technical Support: Offer technical support to clients and internal teams, troubleshooting communication-related issues and providing solutions to improve performance.
* Research & Development: Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in the communication sector and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative solutions.
* Documentation & Reporting: Create and maintain clear documentation for system designs, network performance, and troubleshooting processes to ensure transparency and knowledge sharing.
* Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all communication systems meet UK industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety protocols.
* Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other engineers, project managers, and IT specialists to deliver seamless communication solutions.
* Training & Mentoring: Assist in the training and development of junior engineers, offering guidance on technical skills and industry best practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
* A degree in Communications Engineering, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in designing and maintaining communication networks, including both wired and wireless solutions.
* Strong understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, VoIP, and mobile communication technologies (4G, 5G).
* Proficient with network analysis tools and communication system software.
* Knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) systems, fibre optics, and optical communication networks is an advantage.
* Familiarity with industry standards and UK regulatory requirements (Ofcom, IEC, etc.).
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage competing priorities.
* Willingness to travel occasionally across the UK for site installations and client meetings.
