The School is set in 35 acres of grounds which includes 6 acres of woodland. A further 61 acres of agricultural land is owned by the School in the surrounding area.
The successful applicant will manage three Grounds Assistants, working alongside colleagues in the Estates Team to maintain the extensive gardens, the pond, sports lawns, wildflower meadow and the private garden of the Headmistress.
Salary: £35,517 to £45,203, dependent on experience
Contract: Permanent

Pipers Corner is a Girls’ School Association Independent School for girls aged 4-18. Set in 96 acres of beautiful Chiltern countryside, the school is four miles north of High Wycombe and two miles from Great Missenden. In its most recent ISI inspection (March 2023) the school was graded as “excellent” in all categories.
The main responsibilities of this role are to develop and manage the existing Grounds Management Plan which covers the short, medium and long term. You will be required to put in place a Seasonal Plan to track, plan and monitor periodic tasks throughout the year from daily to annual.
You will need to have good management skills as you will be responsible for developing the Grounds Management Plan, managing periodic work like tree surgery and lawn treatments. In addition to this you will need to be familiar with health and safety requirements and be able to carry out and put in place risk assessments.
Duties
* Lead and manage the Grounds Assistants.
* Deliver practical and flexible planning in both daily and seasonal work.
* Manage the budget and deliver cost-effective solutions.
* Maintain sports’ surfaces in accordance with the relevant sport’s best practice.
* Deliver forward planning of work, materials and equipment.
* Ensure an exceptional standard of presentation of formal and informal lawns and gardens.
* Be responsible for the safe operation of all grounds equipment and vehicles.
* Maintain the safe and tidy preparation of all playing surfaces, roads and car park areas.
* Responsible for keeping the site free from litter.
* Flexible approach to working practices which will include some weekends.
* Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons for whom you are responsible and with whom you come into contact.
The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about gardening and be responsible for the presentation of outside spaces and facilities.
Applicants will ideally hold an academic horticultural qualification and should have experience of working in schools. Candidates must be confident in their use of commercial garden machinery and plant and with their knowledge of plants, have an ability to work to a high standard at all times, working to high health and safety standards.
