Are you ready to lead the charge in transforming how we manage Bridges and Structures assets? Fife Council is seeking a dynamic and innovative Lead Consultant to join our Bridges and Structures team within Structural Services. This is your chance to make a significant impact by integrating cutting-edge digital solutions into our operations.
The primary objective of this role is to lead the Bridges & Structures unit, ensuring the delivery of high-quality asset management functions for our major road and Transportation structures. This includes adhering to national legislation and the prescribed standards and policies of Fife Council, while also driving the effective delivery of top-tier services within the subject area.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide professional and technical leadership in developing and implementing efficient management functions for major road bridges and transportation structures in Fife.
2. Oversee the development of forward design and construction programmes, ensuring budget adherence and effective control
3. Serve as the Technical Approval Authority for Highway Structures in accordance with the DMRB,
4. Lead the programme of structural inspections, including the integration of digital improvements.
5. Stay ahead of new legislation, best practices, and technical standards, leading the development of innovative responses and strategies.

The Person
You are a visionary leader with a passion for digital transformation and a strong background in civil or structural engineering. You are a Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in Bridges and Structures.
6. Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (SCQF level 10) or equivalent.
7. Chartered status with a relevant professional body (MICE / MCHIT / MI StructE / MCIWEM).
8. Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, promoting a positive culture in the workplace.
9. Strong communication skills and the ability to manage conflicting demands effectively.
10. Extensive knowledge of civil engineering specifications, contract management, and health and safety legislation.
11. Experience in preparing and managing project plans and programmes, with a focus on digital integration.
We are currently shaping our future workstyles however, in light of current advice, we are introducing blended home/office working that will include office access days each week with homeworking for the remainder of your working time.
