Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Highway Maintenance Operative to join our NMC North East Account in Forfar.
Our NMC NE Account, awarded to us in 2022, supports Transport Scotland. This account will deliver improved service levels to the trunk road network, ensuring consistent, predictable, and reliable journeys for road users. Works will cover maintenance, road safety, bridges and structures, and discrete improvement schemes while considering the Scottish Government’s climate change and sustainability targets. We’ll also implement an enhanced winter and incident response service, improve communications, and deliver new technologies for better management of trunk network assets and maintenance activities.
Highway Maintenance Operatives play an important part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works.
The standard hours of work are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
You will be responsible for:
1. Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works, and litter picking.
2. Driving/operating vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance, and cleaning are carried out.
3. Winter Maintenance – including emergency call out and standby.
4. Ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount.
5. Keeping records, including drivers’ hours and any necessary paperwork.

We want to hear from you if you have Civils, Trade, or Street works experience to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development to bring you up to speed. It would be desirable if you have an HGV licence.
