Responsibilities
* Assist with the modification or construction of tooling, jigs and attachments to maintain or improve production processes.
* Monitor the delivery and allocation of tooling on arrival from supplier.
* Maintain the KanBan system and ensure stock of all relevant supplies.
* Identify any deficiency in product quality or other deviation from product specification.
* Change work and tool offsets when needed.
* Manufacture new tooling when required to issued drawings.
* Improve programs with speeds/feeds changes and machining strategies, and select correct tooling.
* Perform preventative maintenance on tooling and all aspects of machining and bench fitting, i.e., grinding, turning, milling, etc.
* Test tooling prior to release.
* Assess the life of a press tool and order or make new parts that need replacing.
* Replace pilots, probe pins, springs, and design and make special fixtures to fit to tools.
* Keep database orders and scheduling up to date.
* Perform daily repairs of diecasting machines and dies when faults and issues occur.
* Milling and turning replacement parts for the diecasting machines and dies.
* Cutting and turning ejection pins and sleeves.
* Read drawings and suggest possible improvements.
* Assist on CNC mills & Lathes; operate, set & programme.
* Meet production schedule targets and all other KPIs relevant to the role and department.
* Monitor attendance levels and complete return to work interviews.
* Report any unauthorized absences and issues involving staff members to HR.
* Attend daily production meetings with the Production Manager.
* Ensure all staff are wearing appropriate PPE and completing relevant risk assessments.
* Ensure their working area is kept to a satisfactory standard and complies with company Health and Safety requirements.
* Ensure all equipment remains in its designated area.
* Report any wrongdoing activity to a member of the SMT as required.
* Work in conjunction with the Production controller.
* Ensure the safe and efficient use and control of machinery, tooling, and equipment.
* Monitor and continuously improve processes.
* Perform any other duties which the line manager deems reasonable.
* Conduct gas safety inspection on furnaces up to the point of needing external company.

* Be flexible to changing demands of the post.

* Willing to undertake any training relevant to the role.
* Ability to manage time effectively.
* Initiative and the ability to work without supervision, but as part of a team.
* Ability to read drawings.
Qualifications
* Be Level 3 qualified in the mechanical engineering field.
