Laboratory Team Leader

The Role
The Carlisle laboratory carries out microbiological testing for a wide range of food and water clients. The site is UKAS and RSA approved. We currently have a vacancy for a laboratory Team Leader to join the team.
The successful candidate will organise and manage workload within the team to achieve KPIs and meet business goals.
This role requires someone who has a meticulous eye for detail, with strong knowledge of microbiology analysis across a wide range of methods and analytical procedures, and experience managing a team.

Hours Per Week: 40
Days Per Week: Sunday – Thursday rotating shift:
Week 1: Sunday (11.30 – 20.30) Monday – Thursday (12.45 – 21.45)
Week 2: Sunday – Thursday (08.30 – 17.30)
Contract: Full Time and Permanent
Hours: 44
Salary: £26,781
Key Responsibilities
* Performing work allocated without deviation from the documented methodology and/or procedure whilst maintaining high levels of quality control.
* Conforming with all site Quality Management systems and Health and Safety procedures.
* Performing analysis within the timescales required and ensure that result availability is in line with method and client expectations.
* Ensuring that the laboratory areas are kept clean and tidy. To remove waste frequently and ensure it is disposed of in the correct manner.
* Ensuring that all records are completed concisely and accurately with paperwork written in clear handwriting.
About You
* The ability to work alone and as part of a team in a busy laboratory.
* Experience in a high throughput food environment.
* A keen eye for detail and the ability to work on own initiative.
* Good communication skills, written and oral.
* Be able to accurately follow written procedures.
* Previous laboratory experience would be an advantage but full training will be provided.
