The Role
In support of embedding our Enterprise data strategy we are looking for someone to lead Data Governance across the UK Audit business, to ensure we know our critical data assets, and ensure the people, processes, and technology are in place to guide their management across their lifecycle. This is as part of a significant digital transformation for KPMG and in recognition of the value of data as a strategic asset. The role will report into the Head of Audit Technology & Solutions.

However digital technologies and integrated solutions are only as good as that data created, used and shared within them, therefore we need to strengthen our governance practices to ensure we manage data as the asset it is.
The Data Governance Lead for Audit will deliver our vision to manage data as a strategic asset to enable business growth and be market leaders. The individual will be required to work across the business to agree accountabilities and responsibilities for data and put resources and structures in place, to ensure the data we rely on is governed, trustworthy, reliable and fit for purpose.
Responsibilities
1. Help define and implement a robust data strategy across a complex data landscape.
2. Implement and oversee a Data Governance framework across Audit to create high quality data assets.
3. Work across the Audit business to agree accountabilities and responsibilities for data and ensure clear accountability for ownership and stewardship of the principal data and information assets.
4. Support and facilitate business forums to provide strategic oversight and governance for data and information.
5. Lead data maturity assessments to measure performance and support the business to develop action plans to improve management of data.
6. Put policies and processes in place to manage data across its lifecycle.
7. Monitor data quality, report on it and identify opportunities to improve over time.
8. Champion data best practices in audit.
9. Develop a culture of data stewardship across the audit business, educating the business in the importance of maintaining the quality and protection of the data they are responsible for.
Experience & skills
10. Demonstrable knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of information assets.
11. Deep functional skills in data quality management (profiling, cleansing, enrichment).
12. Experience with data quality management processes.
13. Demonstrable knowledge of data related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.
14. Experience in implementing data management and governance systems to support the effective management of data over time (e.g. Informatica, Purview, Collibra).
15. Building and maintaining relationships – trusted point of contact for colleagues across functions/ capabilities.
16. Seeing the big picture - appreciation of business drivers & ability to adapt approach/ language accordingly.
17. Clear communication - ability to talk/ write about technical topics/ approaches in a non-technical way
18. Leadership/ Influencing – to embed a data-driven approach and drive culture change.
