The Lancaster Canal Trust Cumbria, England, United Kingdom
The Trustees of The Lancaster Canal Trust are looking for a Chair and a Secretary to help them forward the aims of the Trust in a dynamic and efficient manner. Recent losses, for various reasons, have left these positions vacant.
These volunteer roles are not onerous but essential to the well running of the Trust.
Responsibilities
The role of the Chair is to lead and advise the Trustees and to provide an interface to the public and other organisations. The routine practical activities include running monthly meetings and the AGM.
The Secretary will carry out the usual duties for a charity including record keeping and ensuring that the Trust meets the requirements of the Charities Commission.
A keen general interest in canals would be useful but there is a wealth of experience within the Trust to provide practical support.
Objectives of the Trust
1. To promote the restoration to cruising standards of the unnavigable sections of the Canal, the retention of its essential character, and its development as a public amenity.
2. To stimulate and retain public interest in the navigable and unnavigable sections of the Lancaster Canal including the Millennium Ribble Link and the Preston City Link as essential environmental features of Lancashire & Cumbria.
3. To pursue these ends by arranging physical works of repair and restoration, meetings, lectures, cruises and other similar events and by collaboration with other bodies pursuing similar aims.
Details of Trust activities can be found on their web site (lancastercanaltrust.org.uk) or by contacting chair@lancastercanaltrust.org.uk.
