Academics are looking for Music Cover Supervisors for supply opportunities within our partnership Stoke-on-Trent & Newcastle-under-Lyme secondary schools.
Whether you are seeking a long-term contract or more flexible week-by-week cover work, Academics focuses your job search around you, providing roles that suit your needs. Our opportunities allow Cover Supervisors to be flexible with the days they wish to work, and these roles could lead to more long-term and permanent positions in some of our schools.
Cover Supervisors are utilized in secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is unavailable. They have a subject specialism and are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can take time away from the classroom for planning, assessment, or training days. Cover Supervisors are not responsible for planning or assessing lessons, as the original class teacher will set work for students to complete. The Cover Supervisor will manage behavior and ensure that students remain on task.
The benefits of working as a Music Cover Supervisor in a secondary school include:
1. No lesson planning or marking!
2. Support a wide variety of subjects across the curriculum along with your subject specialism!
3. Work alongside successful practicing teachers to further develop your educational knowledge!
4. Flexible working – only want to work 3 days one week, but 5 days the next? Not a problem!
As an Academics Music Cover Supervisor, you will:
1. Hold a minimum Level 6 Qualification (Bachelor’s Degree, Professional Graduate Certificate, BTEC Advanced Professional Diploma, Degree Apprenticeship, etc.) with a Music or Performing Arts specialism.
2. Be familiar with the National Curriculum and the Music programmes of study.
3. Have good classroom presence and behavior management skills.
4. Have a positive can-do attitude to respond to busy schools.
5. Be flexible between Monday to Friday, with usual working hours between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm.
6. Hold a current Enhanced DBS that is registered with the Update Service or be prepared to apply for a new Enhanced DBS with us (cost applied).
