It is an operational support and maintenance base, within the Navy Command TLB and comprises both Faslane and Coulport sites. HMNB Clydes primary purpose is to provide engineering and logistical support to the Royal Navy in maintaining Continuous at Sea Deterrent (CASD). This is achieved by ensuring at least one Vanguard Class submarine is on patrol at sea every day of the year. RNAD Coulport is responsible for the storage, processing, maintenance and issue of the Trident Weapon System and the ammunitioning of all submarine-embarked tactical weapons. This role is part of a small organisation responsible for managing the licencing of Explosive facilities and stores across HMNB Clyde and ensuring Site compliance with Explosive Regulation. The incumbent will join a small team and act as the lead for Warships In Harbour and berthing matrix updates, at Faslane. The incumbent is accountable to the Explosive Safety Manager (Clyde) through the Explosive Safety Advisor (Faslane). This position is advertised at 37 hours per week. Job description The role is responsible for monitoring signal traffic for explosive evolution requests and to authorise explosive movements at Faslane through the FAAS (Faslane Ammunitioning Approval Signal) through consultation with the Weapon Handling Party and Kings Harbour Master, ensuring that the (FAAS) is sent prior to evolutions taking place. The role will conduct monitoring of the Warships In Harbour process across HMNB Clyde by periodically reviewing various documents, registers, plans and assessments. The ESO will work with the ESA to assist in the production and upkeep of the Faslane Explosive Safety Orders and provide advice and guidance, on all aspects of Explosives Safety Issues within HMNB Clyde, primarily in their area of expertise. The role will also assist the Explosive Safety Advisor in providing Explosives Safety Awareness training to HMNB Clyde (Faslane and Coulport) personnel, including Contractors. Full on the job and internal/external training will be given for this role. Person specification Will be proficient in MS Office.
