About the role:
The health and wellbeing of our young people is paramount. We are looking for support workers who are passionate about helping us provide this.
Your role will involve creating a respectful culture and ethos within the home setting, encouraging young people to grow and achieve their full potential while undertaking varied and stimulating activities throughout the day with your support.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Working as a team to provide a safe, warm, caring, and stable environment for young people in our care with emotional and behavioural difficulties alongside autism.
* Managing challenging behaviour.
* Promoting education and daily living skills.
* Undertaking key-worker responsibilities.
* Supporting with individualised care plans.
* Remaining updated with documentation and records in line with organisational and Ofsted regulations.
* Keeping knowledgeable about relevant legislation and policies.
This role involves shift work, including availability to work weekends and sleep-ins. Further information regarding shift patterns will be discussed at the interview stage.
About you:
We are ideally looking for candidates with a minimum of 6 months to a year of children’s home experience, but we would also consider candidates with relevant children's work experience and transferable skills, including emotional support, learning disability, autism, and other complex needs.
You will need to be reliable, energetic, possess effective communication skills, and be able to work in a team. You will have experience supporting those with challenging behaviours and understand how to effectively manage these situations. You will also be willing to provide our young people with personal care as required.
You will thrive on supporting our young people to enjoy life while attending to their physical, medical, and emotional wellbeing.
Essential Requirements:
* UK resident or right to work in the UK (proof of this will be required).
* Be computer literate.
* Minimum of 6 months relevant experience working with children/young people.
* Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare or above preferred but not essential; you will be required to complete a level 4 diploma upon completion of probation if not already gained or working to achieve it within 2 years of service in children/young person services as a regulatory requirement of Ofsted.
* Compliant with our safer recruitment policy, which includes undergoing rigorous pre-employment checks, obtaining satisfactory references, relevant enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, proof of right to work, and verified full working history among other required checks/verification.
* Understand that due to the nature of the work, 15/7.5-hour shifts are involved, including weekends.
Desirable Requirement:
* Ideally hold a full UK driving license.
