The Role
This is a full time position based in Plymouth
The ROV Pilot will be an integral part of the Sea-Kit operations team who are responsible for testing, commissioning, delivering and supporting our remote Uncrewed Surface Vessel technologies.
The ROV Pilot Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining ROV systems, piloting an ROV successfully in a variety of environmental conditions and fault finding technical faults for the ROV systems.
Works in close collaboration with the USV Operator & Survey Engineer.
Ability to work with limited supervision. Requires thorough knowledge of ROV sub-systems.
Operations include preventive maintenance, fault finding activities on systems, assessing weather conditions and operational scope of work to ensure they remain within the bounds of current operational procedures.
Supports the integration of ROV’s into USV’s during the build and testing phase.
Primarily this role will be based out of Plymouth and reporting to the Commissioning Supervisor.
You will work closely with the Sea-Kit commissioning team including USV Operators, Survey Engineer and regional representative ensuring the ROV equipment is operating correctly, maintained to the highest standards and resolving technical challenges.
You will communicate regularly with the commissioning supervisor and onshore teams when required.
Key Responsibilities
1. Ensure that all onshore and offshore activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved and to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution.
2. Setup, testing, piloting, maintenance and operation of the eROV system.
3. Maintain and coordinate comprehensive dive records.
4. Ensure that all work is undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism in accordance with the company QMS and project specific documentation.
5. Assist with the ROV launch and recovery operations.
6. Fault finding and maintenance of ROV control and navigational systems.
7. Demonstrate a working knowledge of company QMS and associated ROV procedures.
8. Work as part of a team, assisting others and communicating well with team members.
Experience & Knowledge
1. Experience of working as an ROV Pilot – Advanced.
2. Comprehensive understanding of operations with inspection class ROV’s – Advanced.
3. High Level of Technical competence with electric ROV’s - Advanced.
4. Secondary Vocational Education.
5. Technical discipline or NVQ in electrical, electronics, computing or mechanics.
