We are delighted to invite applications to the Specialist Clinical Pharmacist in Surgical cancer & specialities post, joining our friendly surgical team to deliver a specialised service to our surgical cancer patients at City Hospital including our breast, burns, urology and thoracic tertiary referral centre.
The post offers an excellent opportunity to develop your portfolio of specialist knowledge and skills for the management of patients as part of a multidisciplinary team, as well as build on your leadership abilities.
Main duties of the job
Our vision is to be outstanding in health outcomes and patient & staff experience.
You will be responsible for working directly with our clinicians, nurse specialists and finance teams to deliver safe and effective treatment to patients within the surgical cancer pathways at NUH.
You will provide complex, pharmaceutical care for patients, optimising their medicines, utilising your prescribing skills and ensuring the effective transfer of care. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced, motivated clinical pharmacist to take on responsibility for a rewarding area of the trust, with the chance to develop the service which is offered to this area.
As a senior member of the pharmacist team, there will be the opportunity to help support and mentor the junior members of the team and trainee pharmacists. You will be expected to line manage one or more of the band 7 pharmacists on the team, providing mentoring, and supporting them with their development and objectives. You will be supported by the divisional lead pharmacist for surgery, as well as being able to call upon the support and expertise of the large pharmacy department at NUH.
Job description
Job responsibilities
The post will be predominately based at the Nottingham City Hospital campus, but there will be the potential need to travel to the Queens Medical Centre Campus as required. The role will be mainly Monday to Friday 9am-5pm, but these hours are negotiable. You will also be required to participate in a rostered weekend and bank holiday rota. In addition to this, there is a requirement to support the on-call pharmacists through the senior pharmacist back-up rota which is currently once every 4-5 months.
The pharmacy department at NUH is forward-thinking and constantly implementing innovative ways of working to deliver the best possible patient care. We continue to extend the ideal model of delivering medicines optimisation and pharmaceutical care where pharmacists are fully integrated into the medical teams, supported by a team of medicines management technicians and assistants.
