As a Prescription Management Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in ensuring patients receive their medications safely and efficiently. Your main skills will be data entry and customer service, maintaining accuracy across various tasks, and supporting with issues and managing processes. You’ll need to maintain a friendly yet professional attitude both on the phones and via email.
Role Purpose:
As a Prescription Management Coordinator, you’ll manage prescription queries from patients, hospitals, and pharmacy colleagues. Your goal? To ensure timely and professional service, helping patients receive their medication and ancillary items seamlessly. This role is all about efficient communication, problem-solving, and compliance with GDPR and internal processes.
1. Accurate Prescription Management: Process patient prescriptions according to our established guidelines, prioritising cases based on urgency and ensuring every detail is spot-on. You’ll handle returned prescriptions and create orders using system data as available.
2. Efficiently Manage Prescription Queries: Handle emails and calls related to prescription concerns, from urgent delivery requests to dosage adjustments, ensuring patients get their medication on time.
3. Investigate and Resolve Issues: Conduct thorough investigations when medication is reported missing, liaising with pharmacies and hospitals to quickly identify and resolve issues.
4. Liaise With Key Stakeholders: Collaborate with internal teams, hospitals, and NHS Trusts across the UK, ensuring smooth and accurate communication throughout the process.
5. Regulatory Compliance: Keep patient safety at the forefront by ensuring each prescription meets all regulatory standards. Adhere to Good Documentation Practices and accurately input prescription information into our system.
6. Maintain GDPR Compliance: Handle sensitive data with the utmost care, ensuring all interactions follow data protection laws.
7. Collaborative Problem-Solving: Work closely with our Screening Pharmacist team, Pharmacy Services, and other departments to resolve queries and streamline workflows, enhancing the efficiency of our operations.
8. Customer Service and Support: Provide excellent customer service, supporting patients with their queries and managing any issues that arise.

To succeed in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following skills:
1. Accurate Data Entry: Process patient prescriptions accurately, prioritising tasks based on urgency. Handle returned prescriptions and create orders using our system.
2. Basic Maths Skills: Use basic addition and multiplication to ensure prescriptions are correct.
3. Customer Service: Maintain a helpful, friendly, and professional manner via phone and email. Experience in customer service is ideal but not required.
4. Learning and IT Skills: Learn to use our systems with provided training. A good level of IT knowledge and the ability to learn quickly are important.
5. Team Environment: Enjoy working in a supportive team with great management.
