An opportunity has arisen for an IP Analyst to join the Legal department in a rapidly expanding and exciting work environment.
About the role
To work with the IP Manager, Head of R&D and engineers to build a pipeline of invention disclosures from engineers in the business, this progressing forward the IP strategy of the organisation.
What you will do
Core
* Work with and assist the IP Manager in capturing/ recording the various forms of FZ’s IP assets, including by way of invention disclosures.
* Working with engineers in various technical teams to elicit invention disclosures.
* Carrying out patentability, prior art and freedom to operate searches and providing various stakeholders in the organisation with analyses and recommendations.
* Working with external counsel to draft and prosecute patent, design and trademark applications across various jurisdictions.
* Assisting the IP Manager with activities relating to IP Committee meetings and decisions, including preparing reports, minutes and actions.
* Supporting IP function in activities relating to the investment activities carried out by relevant teams within the wider group.
* Support the wider Fortescue Zero Legal team in matters relating to IP.
Administration
* Managing external counsel and third-party invoicing and logging relevant information into the IP Asset Management System (IPAMS)
* Generating timely reports for Accounting and IP Committee stakeholders.
* Working with the IP function in the general upkeep and to specific requirements of the IP function and wider group goals.
IP Awareness
* Supporting the IP function and also carrying out, when required, activities such as providing training and developing training courses in order to increase IP awareness within the organisation.
About you
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics or similar.
* Prior experience in technology transfer offices, IP or legal departments in organisations. The right candidate may also be an engineer with experience in battery and/or electric power systems, looking for a new type of role.
* Prior knowledge of Intellectual Property rights and/or IP asset management systems is desirable.
* IP and database training will be provided to suitable candidate.
