Inspector - Time served
Full time - (3-shift pattern)
Derby, fully site-based
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Inspector (advanced level apprenticeship) within our Rotatives and Compression Business in Derby.
In this role, you will perform a full range of inspection activities using CMM and bench inspection techniques on shafts operating common CMM and standard measurement equipment. You will need to read drawings and manufacturing instructions while understanding the criticality of process control in manufacture and working closely with manufacturing engineering on design and manufacturability issues.
What you will be doing:
The on-time and right first-time delivery of components is a key objective within the facility, and the Inspection team plays a pivotal part in enabling us to meet commitments to our customers on time. You will:
* Mount working devices and parts correctly according to instructions.
* Inspect components to required specifications and quality standards.
* Check finished components to ensure they meet quality standards.
* Maintain equipment and ensure all tools are in calibration.
* Work in an integrated team to achieve the cell's targets.
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of the process/cell ensuring optimum performance.
* Set up and operate conventional and CMM plant and equipment according to job provided.
* Complete the relevant documentation (quality, operation data sheets, maintenance reports, etc.).

For this role, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the applicable health and safety standards and we are looking for someone who is/has:
* Completed advanced level engineering apprenticeship* and NVQ/SVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Experience of working in similar inspection roles; aerospace arts/components inspection experience is highly desirable.
* Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, and dimensional and visual inspection.
* Active and patient person, capable of managing your time effectively.
* An individual who is able to work alone and as part of a team and will strive to achieve delivery commitments.
* Awareness of health, safety, and environmental procedures and regulations in a production setting.
* Ability to inspect components with a high level of complexity.
* Can safely deal with any problems/discrepancies while following correct procedures.
