Provides professional statistical support to one or more research studies in the physical, life, and/or socioeconomic sciences, including data collection, assistance in the establishment of data collection instruments and protocol, data analysis/manipulation and management, computer systems/applications programming and analysis, and reporting.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Plans and documents computer data file structure; develops, programs, manages, and maintains complex statistical databases; performs or supervises data entry.
* Selects data samples, prepares questionnaires and surveys, and conducts logic checks to maintain data quality.
* Uses existing statistical software and a variety of established statistical methods to gather, analyze, and interpret research data to derive useful information for research studies.
* Formats data, and develops and prepares reports, charts, tables, and other related documents and graphics.
* Participates with other statisticians in the development of statistical methodology, study design, and data analysis.
* Assists in project planning and management with clients and other staff members.
* May supervise data entry personnel and/or students on specific, project-related tasks.
* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree; at least 2 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
* Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
* Ability to plan, create, program, and manage complex statistical computer databases.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
* Ability to apply a range of standard statistical techniques in support of scientific research studies and/or experiments.
* Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports.
* Ability to analyze and interpret statistical data.
* Knowledge of programming logic and codes.
* Knowledge of statistical sampling and survey methodology.
* Skills in the use of database management, word processing, spreadsheet, and/or presentation software.
* Knowledge of statistical research principles, methods, procedures, and standards.
* Knowledge of SAS programming and/or other statistical software.
