MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Portfolio Manager
As the Product Portfolio Manager, you will lead the successful development, delivery, and evaluation of our product portfolio. This role involves strategic planning, strong stakeholder management, and hands-on product management to ensure successful delivery of the product portfolio / product lifecycle management.
* Lead on an innovative and impactful product strategy: Develop and communicate a clear product portfolio vision and strategy aligned with market trends and customer needs. Lead and embed a suitable governance structure for the Product Portfolio.
* Translate strategy into action: Responsible for developing / delivering on the Product Strategy by managing, monitoring, and evaluating the portfolio of products to drive desired commercial and strategic outcomes.
* Drive and manage the product lifecycle: Lead on all processes in the product lifecycle, including market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements, roadmap development, delivery, and product launch.
* Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration: Establish and manage complex relationships with external customers, partners, and senior stakeholders. Collaborate closely with technical, marketing, scientific, and commercial teams to ensure the quality and success of the product(s).
* Contribute to product strategy: Lead on shaping the Product Strategy within the overall organisational strategy. Ensure consistent, objective investment decisions across the product portfolio.
This role coordinates activities across market-focused, cross-functional teams to ensure consistency in strategy, business planning, investment decisions, risk management, and outcomes-based measures. It manages the processes for allocation of business resources linking go-to-market and operational resources and provides leadership with clarity on investment performance.
Example responsibilities
* Implement processes to coordinate business plans and investment decisions to enable the management to make objective business decisions, understand trade-offs, and monitor investment outcomes across the portfolio (including invest/divest/hold decisions).
* Support cross-functional teams in writing business cases using common templates and metrics. Co-ordinate business cases to ensure consistent evaluation across the portfolio for project prioritisation and decision-making.
* Implement portfolio risk taxonomy (value, usability, feasibility, and viability) to manage and analyse risk across the portfolio.
* Run scenario analysis to support decision-making.
* Commission broad market and competitor research and synthesise the outputs into recommendations for long-term strategy.
* Support cross-functional teams to provide standardised approaches for measuring and reporting product usage, revenue, profitability, and return on investment.
* Promote sharing of ideas and best practices across groups to enable consistent delivery of customer value.
* Development of business, GTM, licensing, and pricing models.
