Opportunity for a Graduate Transport Planner to join our growing, multidisciplinary team in Cheltenham, GL50 3QQ, in autumn 2025.
Transport planning helps develop the future shape of our towns and cities, considering how transport will link people with places. This includes encouraging sustainable modes of transport wherever possible to replace journeys by car. Working through the planning process and beyond, we communicate complex issues to the public, developers, and politicians to help sustainable development happen.
During the first 12 months of your employment, you will be given the time and support to complete our eight-module graduate programme, providing a strong foundation for your career in transport planning as well as personal and professional development. The modules include: An introduction to transport planning, Access and internal masterplan considerations, Developing yourself as an effective colleague, Trip generation and Distribution, Services of a multi-disciplinary consultancy, Highway design (using CAD), Transport impacts, and an end-point assessment.
Your day-to-day as a Graduate Transport Planner with us will include (with the guidance and support of colleagues):
* Preparing technical reports such as Access Appraisals, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and Walking, Cycling, Horse-Riding Assessment and Reviews.
* Carrying out junction capacity modelling and CAD design work.
* Liaising with stakeholders, external project team members, and clients.
* Representing the company at meetings, public consultations, and exhibitions.
* Undertaking site visits and surveys.
* Working collaboratively within your team and others on multidisciplinary projects.
What we are looking for in our next intake of Graduate Transport Planners:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant subject (including but not limited to Geography, Civil Engineering, Transport Planning) and predicted to achieve a 2:1 grade or above.
* Demonstrate and articulate your talent and motivation to become a transport planner working in development planning.
* Ability to research and write high-quality reports (typically demonstrated through your studies or work experience).

* Full UK driving licence.
* The Right to Work in the UK indefinitely (we are unable to provide visa sponsorship now or in the future).
