Thorncliffe Home Care Ltd specialises in personalised care for people living in their own home/ the local community. We currently have an opening for a domiciliary care supervisor. We have part time and full time positions available. Our domiciliary care service provides real support to individuals living in the Sunderland and Washington areas in an effort to assist them to develop and lead a fulfilled and as independent life as is possible. Our Supervisors play a vital role by leading, supervising and enhancing the quality of care we provide to our service users. You’ll be reviewing and assessing the work of our Care Assistants and be providing feedback for further training and development as and where required. You will be completing person centred assessments for service users and typing care plans. This role is both office and field based.
This role does include On Call duties as part of a rota. You will have the On Call telephone Monday to Friday 7:00am – 9:00am and 17:00pm – 23:00pm AND Saturday and Sunday all day. Rotation of the On Call duty is currently 1 in every 3 weeks. This can change depending on annual leave etc. You will receive an enhancement to your wage for being On Call, and fuel allowance. For this duty you must be flexible, you are required to complete care calls yourself if you fail to get cover from Care Assistants.
Wage:
£13 per hour (Supervisor Rate)
£12.00 per hour Mon - Fri &12.50 per hour Sat - Sun (Care Assistant Rate)
Requirements:
- Have your Level 3 Diploma in Health or Social Care or working towards, have a sound history of delivering high quality care and a genuine desire to uphold the values that Thorncliffe Home Care LTD stands for.
- You will be required to have the on call phone, for a full 7 days on a rostering system discussed on interview. This will be paid as an enhancement to your wage.

- To provide telephone support to clients and care staff (in and out of hours while on call).
- To supervise and deploy teams of Care Workers who provide care and support to vulnerable adults
- To ensure consistent application of the Company’s Policies, Procedures and approved practice and to promote the aims of the Company

- Assist/suggest continual improvements for positive outcomes for Clients and Thorncliffe Home care company processes / procedures
- To assist the Registered Manager in auditing the standard of service delivery to clients by: Conducting spot checks and supervisions, Client satisfaction questionnaires, Attending review meetings with client / family / local authority / health personnel / other professionals, as required, Creating and updating client care plans and risk assessments, Any other administrative procedures / tasks required by their Manager / Senior staff
Specific responsibilities:
- To carry out initial visits and appropriate assessment for all new service users
- To provide shadowing for new Care Workers and report to the Senior Supervisor / Registered Manager when new Care Workers will be ready to work alone
- To ensure that all Care Workers are capable and confident to carry out their roles by identifying development and training needs. To report any deficits to the Senior Supervisor / Registered Manager. To participate in the provision of on the job training
- To liaise with placement teams/social workers/care managers/other professionals in relation to changes in service user circumstances, condition or needs
- To carry out service user reviews as required by the National Minimum Standards for Domiciliary Care including annual reassessment including Local Authority reviews and to follow up any key actions
- To carry out spot visits to service user’s homes whilst Care Workers are in attendance
- To ensure all Care Workers record visits accurately and to a high standard in the daily visit records
- To report daily to the Senior Supervisor / Registered Manager all episodes of sickness and absence of Care Workers
- To cover short notice absences of Care Workers by reorganising Care Worker teams out of office hours or as a last resort covering the care personally
- To report to the Senior Supervisor / Registered Manager any incidence of late or missed visits
- To report all comments, complaints and compliments to the Senior Supervisor / Registered Manager as soon as they are received
