As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Commercial Investment Bank Technology’s Securities Services Instruction Capture Technology organization, you will lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management will be crucial in promoting multiple complex projects and initiatives. As a site lead of our Software Engineering team, you will be responsible for people management and team growth, as well as development, design and problem-solving through innovative engineering practices. You will not only be responsible for application design and development of our core applications but also lead our local technology team towards a strategic vision. You will be a culture bearer, instilling a healthy working environment and partnering with stakeholders inside and outside of the department to understand their needs and facilitate the design and development of robust data solutions that meet and/or exceed customer expectations. This role will require you to continuously partner with other tech peers, business stakeholders and senior management on a daily basis to stay focused on achieving the common business deliveries and goals. Job responsibilities Heads, manages and leads the Instruction Capture (IC) team in Bournemouth (35 software engineers) Leads and establishes effective and collaborative engagement with cross POTL and IC Prod DEV as trusted partner for business delivery governance, planning and execution Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional and business objectives Manages all application development and technology process implementations to achieve functional and business objectives for IC Bournemouth Manages resource planning, budgeting, personal development and people management for IC Bournemouth Instils and leads the culture of collaboration between Tech and OPS/Prod Dev locally in Bournemouth and across globally Interacts and develops partnership with other tech leaders in Bournemouth Tech Centre under Sec Svs Actively engages and participates in global IC design sessions and discussions for strategic solution across the board Provides monthly status updates of all projects developed in Bournemouth Tech Centre to senior stakeholders Actively engages, leads and motivates the IC Bournemouth Tech Centre engineers in local tech Business Resource Groups (BRGs) Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams Required qualifications, capabilities and skills Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and expert applied experience. In addition, advanced experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise Extensive full stack development experience (advanced Java skills with Spring, Multithreaded programming, Remote debugging) in an agile environment with lean methodologies Experience in design and architecture of software applications with Cloud based technologies - AWS Established software engineering leader with wide exposure to enterprise technologies Proven experience in delivering high value technical projects and established track record of managing or leading large technology teams Ability to multitask, work effectively and gain credibility and respect of key partners both inside and outside of the organization Ability to lead and persuade others while positively influencing the outcome of team efforts Ability to lead and represent time zone coverage for production issues including Root cause analysis (RCA) and production system hygiene governance like utilization of the platform, high availability for disaster recovery, capacity etc. Ability to enforce discipline across the software development lifecycle including test driven development Powerful communicator who engages colleagues, business partners, external stakeholders, and employees Ability to deliver high quality results under tight deadlines and be counted on as an essential and fully vested partner Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills Financial industry experience preferred Knowledge and experience working with big data with specialization in developing and managing Kafka based data pipelines In depth knowledge of OO and SOLID design principles Continuous Integration & Delivery tools Messaging (JMS/MQ) Good understanding of full software life cycle development processes including Agile processes Experience with JMX consoles like VisualVM, JConsole and memory tuning
