Taylor Root is working with a leading, global climate charity who support companies to set emission reduction targets. They work with companies across a range of sectors including aviation, chemicals, financial services, retail, and consumer goods.
They are looking to hire a newly qualified solicitor to join as a Junior Legal Counsel who will provide expertise and guidance to support the charity’s mission and operations. Reporting directly into the Head of Legal and working with the existing Legal Counsel, this is a broad role covering the entirety of the organisation as it continues to develop operations globally.
The role is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, but the intention is to have someone who can join them longer than that and who they can develop.
Responsibilities:
* Providing legal advice related to the UK charity/nonprofit sector.
* Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial agreements (e.g. procurement, technology, privacy, grants, consulting), and overseeing the contract management function.
* Advising on wider legal matters incl. IP, employment, data privacy.
* Providing support for compliance.
* Assisting with Company Secretarial matters.
This is a hands-on role where the individual will be working alongside key stakeholders within the charity. The legal team act as a partner with the commercial functions so it’s an in-house role where you will be very involved and gaining lots of exposure.
Experience required:
* Newly qualified solicitor, having trained at a well-reputed law firm or comparable in-house experience.
* English qualified solicitor, or solicitor qualified in a common-law jurisdiction.
* Excellent communication, drafting and organisation skills.
* Practical and problem-solving mindset.
* Knowledge or interest in the ESG/sustainability issues.
