Mechanical Engineer - Isleworth - Permanent - April Start Date - 5 days onsite - Specialist Firm
Sustainable Infrastructure's client is a specialist engineering company that supports some of the world’s leading aerospace companies around the globe. They are a leader in jigging tooling, used in the manufacture of aerospace components. We are looking for a Senior Engineer to ensure that designs are delivered on time and in full as well as maintaining the quality and cost model of the product. The role will provide the vital link between customers, sales and operations and oversee a small team of engineers. The office is less than 10 people onsite.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a small team of engineers to design and develop products using Solidworks to an AS9100 standard.
Specifics of the role will include:
1. Preparation of SOLIDWORKS 3D models, general layout, assembly and detail drawings in line with client’s requirements and design standards
2. Managing a team to design and develop both new and existing products to AS9100 standard
3. Interpret customer ideas in conjunction with sales staff and manage the preparation of drawings and 3D models for manufacture, including all dimensions, tolerances, finishes and notes
4. Manage the delivery of products, drawings and documents on time and in full
5. Support the operations team both in the office and workshop
6. Support the supply chain performance (Time, Quality, Cost and Service)
7. Support the sales team to win opportunities and support customers
8. Maintain the 100% external quality level
9. Support the delivery of products and documents on time and in full
10. Deliver orders within the business cost model
11. Contribute to and report via month end meetings and KPI’s
12. Contribute to the company technology roadmap
13. Provide ad hoc external support (sales meetings, events, meetings, phone)
14. Support the achievement of operations business targets
15. Lead by example
16. Support and contribute to improve all design processes and procedures
Essential Criteria
1. Minimum 5 years of engineering experience
2. Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD, preferably SOLIDWORKS
3. Proficiency in hand calculations and analysis tools such as FEA
4. Proficiency in design principles and product development
5. Proficiency in project management within engineering
6. Ability to create and manage engineering drawings and quality documents
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
8. Has a sociable style with drive and dedication
9. Good communication and management skills
10. Ability to work independently as well as in a team
11. Ability to get ‘hands dirty’ to meet deliverables
12. Motivation and a desire to contribute to a dynamic business
13. Has a full valid driving license
14. Strong desire to deliver engineering excellence by experiencing and learning new skills
15. Ability to make decisions and take responsibility
Desirable Criteria
1. HND or University degree in a relevant subject
2. Previous experience in the aerospace industry
3. Proficiency with quality standards such as AS9100, ISO9001
