This comprises working across the council, community and academic partners with a focus on the food environment in Nottingham including playing an important role in the newly formed ‘Food Insecurity and Sustainability group’.
In addition, you will support the Public Health Principal manage the relationship with our local, integrated Health and Wellbeing service. The role will also work closely with colleagues in the system who lead on physical activity e.g. Active Nottingham.
As a Public Health Manager you will work alongside your colleagues across the public health team and beyond, to make a real and tangible difference to the lives of those in Nottingham who are most vulnerable. You will use a variety of methods to assess and understand their needs, influence and implement strategies, re-design services and pathways, evaluate our progress and much more! There will be plenty of personal development opportunities, including the possibility of postgraduate study with the University of Nottingham.

What to do next:
We are keen to give all applicants an opportunity to shine and show their full potential. Therefore, in addition to your application we are asking all applicants to send us their response to the following question:
“Thinking about where you live, what three things could or already do, make a big difference to the local food environment to promote Eating for Good Health?”
You can provide this response in any format you like – it can be a word document (no more than 1500 words), a set of PowerPoint slides, a short video or something else entirely! These should be emailed to matt.corder@nottinghamcity.gov.uk before the closing date. Important - Applications will not be considered during shortlisting unless this requirement has been met.
In responding to this question we are interested in your personal thoughts and reflections, as well as how you approach the question and communicate your answer. There is no textbook answer and you can’t be wrong. In order to make this a meaningful part of the process we kindly ask that you do not use AI text generators such as ChatGPT. Responses will be checked for likely use of AI and the result of this will be considered during shortlisting. If you are shortlisted your response to the question will form part of the onward assessment process – therefore it is much better if you are able to talk personally and passionately about your answer.
At Nottingham City Council we believe that work is what you do, not where you do it. We offer different working arrangements, depending on the role, including hybrid working. Further information on Worker Types and what these mean in terms of how and where you work can be found on the additional information for applicants page.
For informal enquiries and or a conversation please contact Matt Corder, Public Health Principal by email at matt.corder@nottinghamcity.gov.uk .
