Powys Educational Psychology service is a small, supportive team based in a beautiful area of mid-Wales. We provide a range of Educational Psychology Services based on:
* Person centred; outcome focussed practice.
* Multi-agency and collaborative approaches.
* Quality assessment.
* Group Consultation.
* Evidence based Intervention.
* Reflective Supervision.
* Training.
You will assist the authority to fulfil its statutory responsibilities for identification, assessment and reviewing of children & young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), in the age range 0 -25 years.
In addition, you will assist the council in implementing its programme for transforming education by participating in workstreams for improving the provision for pupils with ALN. The ALN service has been recently recognised by Estyn for effective practice:

Key duties include managing a cluster of schools in mid-Powys and working with ALNCos and other staff. The service promotes a group consultation model with joint problem solving at the heart of any case work. There are opportunities to develop, deliver and evaluate training and support in a range of areas, including Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA), Mediating Learning Support Approach (MeLSA) and group reflective, trauma informed supervision for school staff. Opportunities for collaborative working with colleagues are valued by the team. You will be asked to contribute to areas of the Educational Psychology Service Development Plan. Currently, we are supporting whole school approaches to emotional well-being and mental health, trauma informed practices and emotionally based school avoidance.
We value professional development and peer support. As a member of the team, you will be well supported through an initial induction period and then regular peer supervision.
We are looking for someone who:
* Is, or will be, a professionally qualified Educational Psychologist (usually a Doctorate) with registration to the HCPC.
* Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and adults. The successful applicant for this role will also be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
* Has excellent organisation and time management, communication, and interpersonal skills. (Welsh is desirable)
* Has experience and knowledge of child development and additional learning needs, disabilities and the provision required to best meet their needs.
* Works within a consultative framework.
* Is enthusiastic, creative, and determined to make a positive impact on children's lives through the application of psychology.
* Is a supportive team member who contributes to the service development.
