SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
Salary: £83.33 – £95.00 per day
Start Date: ASAP; Easter term 2025
GSL Education Lincolnshire are looking for an enthusiastic SEMH Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist setting within Scunthorpe, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for individuals aspiring to helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, and other learning difficulties.
* Assist teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons, ensuring all students can participate effectively.
* Build trusting relationships with students to support their emotional well-being and behavioural management.
* Implement structured behaviour management techniques to encourage positive engagement in learning.
* Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to develop and implement effective intervention strategies.
* Support students in developing essential life skills to promote independence and confidence.
* Encourage a calm and inclusive learning environment that fosters emotional regulation and resilience.
Key Requirements:
* Experience working with children with SEMH, Autism, ADHD, or additional needs.
* A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with challenging behaviours.
* Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and behaviour management strategies.
* A child workforce, enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service.
