An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 1.0 WTE dietitian to support the Paediatric Gastroenterology and Surgical team at Nottingham Children's Hospital (NCH) on a temporary contract for 9 months to cover maternity leave. We are looking for a forward-thinking and enthusiastic Dietitian to join our team. You will become an integral member of our supportive multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, patient-centred dietetic care. The job will be a mix of in-patient and outpatients.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide dietetic support within a team of Consultants and Specialist nurses. Providing therapeutic dietary advice to children and young people with Inflammatory Bowel disease, coeliac disease along with single/multiple exclusion diets.
The successful candidate will support nutritional interventions including oral nutrition and enteral feeding, so some experience in these would be beneficial. They will also need to work closely with the broader MDT to optimise patient care with the aim of minimising admissions where possible.
The post holder will also support audit and service evaluation to demonstrate the benefits of dietetic input within these patient pathways.
The post holder would be supported by a Team Leader and Clinical Leads to deliver a consistent high-quality dietetic service at NCH.

Job responsibilities
You must have experience of working as a Dietitian. You will need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, a flexible approach and the ability to manage your own time and workload and that of other members of staff within a supportive team. You will work alongside dietitians as well as dietetic technicians and dietetic assistants. We expect you to be enthusiastic, motivated and keen to develop your own skills and those of others. Experience of nutritional support is essential. Additional training will be provided.
As part of this role, it is essential that you will be able to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) according to national and local guidance.

* HCPC registered
* Evidence of continuing professional development
* Member of the BDA
* Validated courses
Experience
* Experience as a dietitian
* Able to apply additional depth of knowledge gained through experience to specialist area
* Experience in any of the specialist areas

* Able to overcome barriers to understanding.
* Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including explaining, negotiating, motivating and training.
* Able to work as an integral member of dietetic and multi-professional teams, building relationships with patients/carers, and other staff
* Able to handle sensitive and confidential information and respond to people who are distressed or anxious
* Able to overcome difficulties in communication, including language barriers, and adapt approach to varying situations.

* Able to communicate with a range of individuals on complex matters

* Able to plan and organise own workload, including daily tasks and longer-term strategic planning, despite interruptions and changing priorities.

* Able to carry out anthropometric measurements accurately and use relevant equipment
* Able to use a computer keyboard and relevant computer programmes.
